The beginning

Sally and I were introduced by a mutual colleague and client in 2017. We met for a cup of coffee and immediately hit it off, finding we shared many of the same values in work and life.

We talked initially about raising Sally’s profile to get her services known more widely and doing this consistently. At this point Zest for Life had been going for seven years and was continually delivering fabulous outcomes for clients.

We began by reviewing and improving her social media presence and planning a series of monthly blogs to highlight her main service areas, sharing the posts on the ZFL Facebook and LinkedIn pages.

As Sally’s trust in me grew, I progressed to writing new resources for her website, launching a quarterly newsletter, researching and writing client case studies, and creating branded materials and resources.

In 2022 we embarked on redeveloping her website, which Sally wanted to enhance and reflect her brand and tone of voice even more. I project managed the build working with Karen Taylor, as well as writing all the new copy for the whole website.

I manage all Sally’s design work, branding, and proof, edit and manage the production of the workbooks which formed an essential part of her Exceptional Development programmes.

My support for Sally and Zest for Life goes beyond copywriting. Over the years I have encouraged her to raise her profile further by doing regular brand photoshoots, investing in PR, speaker training, and video content for her website. I often recommend useful connections for her to speak to, including printers, a videographer, PR, graphic designer and photographers.

I also introduced her to the team at Pink Spaghetti who supported her with LinkedIn training and now work alongside me to manage Zest for Life’s social media channels.

Outcomes

Strictly speaking, this section should be called ‘The End’, but with Sally and Zest for Life, that’s happily not the case. We are still working together successfully after seven years and Sally and I have become firm friends.

The new Zest for Life website launched in May 2023, incorporating new functionality to make Sally’s life easier, including booking calls, taster sessions and order books directly through the website.

People often complement Sally on blogs, newsletter and website. A consistent presence on social media allows her to maintain a presence and reminds her clients that she’s around and how she can support their development. Most leads are current or past clients so this presence keeps Zest for Life front of mind when they need her services.

Sally says…

I was slightly nervous before meeting Lucy, but my fear soon dissipated once we got talking. She’s fun, easy, and exceptional to work with. Just fab! It’s so easy working with her. I sometimes get overwhelmed with how amazing she is!

The blogs are always themed around what I want to say. We began with me providing a brain dump in a document, but when I told Lucy I hate typing, she asked how I would prefer to share my thoughts. I started drawing mindmaps and taking photos of them. Lucy picks it all up like a magnet and kerching! a blog emerges from my scribbles.

Working with Lucy has brought consistency to my communications and raised my online profile. Most of my work comes from repeat and previous clients, so maintaining a presence is important. She redeveloped my website to say what I wanted it to say. Lucy pushes for consistency and keeps me on track, whilst being conscious and respectful when I’m busy working in my business. When you’re a solo business person with tight resources, she takes things off your agenda and deals with them. Her support is immeasurable. I just trust her to get on with it.

If you’re considering working with Lucy, you only need to spend a bit of time with her and she will turn your message into something that magically connects with your audience. Everyone needs a Lucy in their business. You couldn’t work with a nicer person.
